Bruce was in charge of Newcastle’s 3-2 loss to Tottenham Hotspur, but his future at St James’ Park has become more dubious following the club’s recent takeover.
With many Newcastle fans wanting Bruce to leave and an £8 million pay-off looming, Redknapp believes Bruce will be “relieved” if he is fired.
‘If I’m completely honest, my feeling is that Bruce would like to be put out of his misery,’ Redknapp remarked on Sky Sports. He is a symbol of the old system, but he will despise it at every opportunity. That’s not something you can appreciate, he’s a kind man. I have a lot of admiration for him. I believe he will be relieved when he receives that phone call.’
When it comes to naming Bruce’s successor, Redknapp believes it is critical that Newcastle make the proper choice.
