Pep Guardiola appears to have won his battle to have five substitutes allowed for the remaining of the Carabao Cup.
The Manchester City manager was influential in a drive to boost the number of interchanges for the remainder of the tournament, as Sportsmail revealed earlier this month. Insiders say it had a slim probability of succeeding at the time.
However, it is understood that City has now won the support of 13 of the remaining 16 teams in the competition.
Each has now written to the EFL to express their sentiments in response to City’s prompting, and while conversations are ongoing, it appears that Pep’s plan will be approved.
The EFL will speak to the two parties who oppose the City manager’s stance to gauge their perspectives as the pressure mounts.
However, with such much support, their stance could change before the next set of matches on October 26 and 27.
