Turkish GP: In Practice Two, Lewis Hamilton Leads Charles Leclerc, But Max Verstappen Struggles

In Practice Two, Lewis Hamilton topped the timesheets ahead of Charles Leclerc, capping a dominant Friday at the Turkish Grand Prix, while title contender Max Verstappen struggled to fifth in the Red Bull.

On a day when the momentum appeared to be swinging towards Verstappen after Hamilton’s 10-place grid penalty for Sunday was confirmed, the Dutchman struggled to find car balance and pace around the challenging Istanbul Park, while championship leader Hamilton remained in command.

Hamilton maintained his comfortable lead in second practice with another fastest time and track record, a 1:23.804 on the soft tyres, six tenths of a second faster than Verstappen.

Leclerc, on the other hand, put Hamilton to the test.

The Monegasque driver was only a tenth slower than the leaders after a surprise strong Friday in the Ferrari, which had by far the most competitive midfield vehicle to begin the weekend.
