According to Sky in Italy, Claudio Ranieri has agreed to become Watford’s new head coach and is likely to sign on Monday.
The Italian, who led Leicester to the Premier League title in 2016, stepped down as manager of Sampdoria at the end of last season and is likely to take over from xisco Munoz, who was fired on Sunday morning.
Ranieri, who will turn 70 later this month and has previously managed Chelsea and Fulham, is well-known among Watford’s owners, with speculation that he was a possibility for the position in the past.
After the international break, Ranieri’s first game in command is set to be a Premier League home game against Liverpool on October 16.
