Gabriel Is Prepared To “Do Amazing Things” With Arsenal

Gabriel Magalhaes is still on a high four days after Arsenal’s 3-1 win against Tottenham at a raucous Emirates Stadium. With a white-toothed smile on his face, he tells Sky Sports, “There is nothing better in football than winning a derby.” Especially when you’ve won it in such a spectacular manner.

There had been a sense of something developing, albeit cautiously. The tone has shifted after narrow victories over Norwich and Burnley. The Spurs’ thrashing on Sunday, however, was a different story. “We were ecstatic to provide that joy to the fans,” Gabriel adds.

The 23-year-old was unavailable throughout Arsenal’s tumultuous start to the season, which saw them finish bottom of the table with no points and no goals in their first three games. However, his return from a knee injury has played a key role in their resurgence.

Gabriel has been a colossal presence in the heart of their defense, assisting on clean sheets against Norwich and Burnley – after which Mikel Arteta dubbed him “a player with a tremendous future” – before shackling Harry Kane on Sunday.
