Posted by Andrey Rublev and Alexander Zverev won the Laver Cup for the fourth time in a row, defeating Reilly Opelka and Denis Shapovalov in the doubles to clinch a decisive 14-1 victory for Europe.
After winning all four matches against Team World on Saturday, Team Europe needed one more win on Sunday. It happened after Olympic champion Zverev of Germany and Rublev of Russia defeated Opelka and Shapovalov 6-2 6-7 (4-7) 10-3.
The 2019 (Geneva), 2018 (Chicago), and 2017 (Prague) editions were likewise won by Europe.
Six of the best European players compete against six of the greatest players from the rest of the globe over three days, with three singles and a doubles match per day.
On Friday, each match win is worth one point, two points on Saturday, and three points on Sunday, with the trophy going to the first team to earn 13 points.
With six of the world’s top ten players in Daniil Medvedev (2), Stefanos Tsitsipas (3), Alexander Zverev (4), Rublev (5), Matteo Berretini (7), and Casper Ruud, Europe was always a strong contender to retain their title (10). Felix Auger Aliassime of Canada was the highest-ranked player on Team World, at number 11.
