As Bruno Fernandes missed an injury-time penalty amid hectic circumstances at Old Trafford, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer complained about the behavior of Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
Following Kourtney Hause’s handball, Fernandes was forced to wait two minutes while Villa players crowded the penalty area, and Martinez snubbed the taker by pointing to Cristiano Ronaldo and signaling he should be awarded the penalty instead.
After all of the commotion, Fernandes blasted his kick high into the Stretford End, his only miss in 23 efforts for United, allowing Villa to celebrate a 1-0 victory.
‘I didn’t enjoy, I didn’t like, the way they crowded the referee and the penalty spot and tried to affect him,’ said Solskjaer. ‘It clearly worked for them but that’s not great to see.
