Gueye Stunner Helps PSG Maintain 100% Start

With a 2-0 win over Montpellier at Parc des Princes, Paris St-Germain preserved their perfect record in Ligue 1. After a quarter of an hour, Idrissa Gueye scored his third goal of the season, firing Angel di Maria’s lay-off into the top of the net from the edge of the box.

Julian Draxler, a late substitute, added a second with his first touch two minutes from time. PSG now has an eight-game winning streak as they prepare to host Manchester City in the Champions League this week.

Montpellier got tentative chances from Teji Savanier and Junior Sambia, who forced Keylor Navas into action, but they were unable to send enough players forward in sufficient numbers to cause PSG significant issues.

Goalkeeper Jonas Omlin kept the visitors in the game by parrying Gueye’s shot and preventing Nicolas Cozza from scoring an own goal after a deflected cross from Kylian Mbappe.

Neymar missed a fantastic chance with 19 minutes remaining, missing the target from close range after meeting Herrera’s ball, before Draxler sealed the victory.
