What Will Pep Guardiola Try Next Against Thomas Tuchel In Chelsea’s Match Versus Man City?

Thomas Tuchel is already one of just two managers to beat Pep Guardiola in three consecutive matches, but how significant will it be if he can make it four in a row when Chelsea hosts Manchester City on Saturday?

When the two worked together in Germany, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho never beat Guardiola, but he did so soon after arriving at Stamford Bridge, when he won three games in three separate tournaments in the space of six weeks at the conclusion of last season.

Tuchel’s most recent victory, in the Champions League final, was by far the most meaningful of those triumphs, and it came after some alleged over-thinking on the part of his opponent, who tinkered with the methods that had just brought his latest Premier League title.

So, what does Guardiola have planned this time? And, with Chelsea at the top of the table and already in command, how crucial is it for him and Manchester City to get this one right?

“It’s all everyone at City is talking about,” says their former midfielder Michael Brown, who will be at Stamford Bridge for Radio 5 live.

“I was working at their Carabao Cup win over Wycombe at Etihad Stadium on Wednesday and, whether it was fans, other ex-players or people in general, they were all saying ‘what will Pep do at the weekend and will it be something different again?’
