Messi Replaced On Home Debut As PSG Grab A Late Win Against Lyon

Lionel Messi made his home debut for Paris Saint-Germain, but he was replaced in the second half as they beat Lyon to make it six wins in a row. In the first half, summer signing Messi hit the angle of post and bar with a free-kick and forced a save from Anthony Lopes, but he was not at his best.

Mauro Icardi, another PSG replacement, scored the game-winning goal in injury time, heading home Kylian Mbappe’s cross. Lyon took the lead thanks to Lucas Paqueta’s header from Karl Toko Ekambi’s cross.

However, Neymar equalized with a contentious penalty. He appeared to pull back Malo Gusto in the area, but the adolescent Lyon defender was instead penalized and a penalty kick was awarded.
