Jesse Lingard, the match-winner, has been praised by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for rebounding back to quiet old club West Ham just days after his error lost Manchester United a point in the Europa League against Young Boys.
Lingard replaced Cristiano Ronaldo in Bern, and his ball to David de Gea was intercepted by Jordan Siebatcheu, who tapped home deep into stoppage time.
The 28-year-old returned to the bench today at the stadium where he made such an impression last season, replacing Paul Pogba on 73 minutes.
Lingard dribbled into the area, worked a yard of space, and curled a superb attempt past Lukasz Fabianski into the Pole’s top left-hand corner to shatter the hearts of the home fans.
