Barcelona limped to a 1-1 draw against Granada in LaLiga on Monday, relying on a last-minute header from defender Ronald Araujo to save a point.
With 27,000 people inside the stadium out of a possible 40,000, the crowd was startled into silence after 85 seconds when Domingos Duarte rose at the back post to head in Sergio Escudero’s centre. As Barca pushed and puffed to get back into the game, Sergi Roberto hit the post with a volley midway through the first half.
On the stroke of halftime, Araujo forced Luis Maximiano to make a full-length stop as the Catalans resorted to hoofing the ball into the box, piling up over 40 crosses from open play.
It paid off in the final minute of normal time when the Uruguayan saved a point for Ronald Koeman’s side. With eight points from four games, Barca is in seventh place, five points behind leaders Real Madrid, who have played five games.
Meanwhile, Granada is still without a win and sits in 17th place with three points from five games.
