Despite Pep Guardiola’s request for more Manchester City fans to attend, empty seats were noticeable at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
Guardiola had stated that he wants more fans to attend the game against Southampton after just roughly 17,000 attended the Champions League victory over RB Leipzig.
The Spaniard’s rallying call, however, failed to fill the Etihad Stadium as Manchester City drew 0-0 with Southampton, despite the hosts surviving a penalty scare and Kyle Walker’s red card being overturned.
Guardiola, according to Kevin Parker, general secretary of Manchester City’s official supporters’ organisation, is out of touch. He on the other hand, responded by saying, “Mr Parker should evaluate the statements.”
‘I will not apologise to him, absolutely not. I’m not going to apologise for what I said. I love this club, I am part of this club, otherwise I would not be in my sixth season here.
