Bernd Leno’s future at Arsenal is uncertain, with the club considering selling the goalkeeper next summer.
Mikel Arteta’s plans for the Germany international were put into doubt on Saturday when Aaron Ramsdale, a £30 million summer signing, was given a surprise start against Norwich, helping Arsenal to their first Premier League victory of the season.
After the triumph, Arteta was gushing in his appreciation of Ramsdale, who is set to keep his spot in the team.
It casts doubt on Leno’s future at the Emirates for the remainder of the season.
Even if the 29-year-old does not reclaim his place in the starting XI, the Gunners are unlikely to agree to sell him in January. However, if their goalkeeping situation goes as planned, they will attempt to sign him next summer.
