Martin Braithwaite, a Barcelona striker, will have knee surgery. The 30-year-old Danish international injured his left knee in a 2-1 win against Getafe on August 29.
The injury has not responded to “conservative treatment,” according to Barcelona, and he will undergo surgery in the “coming days.” It adds to the club’s offensive troubles, as new addition Sergio Aguero has yet to make an appearance due to a calf injury.
The 33-year-old Aguero isn’t due back until October.
Ansu Fati, an 18-year-old Spanish attacker, is yet to make an appearance for Barcelona this season while he recovers from knee surgery.
Braithwaite, a former Middlesbrough striker, has started all three La Liga games this season, scoring twice in his team’s opening-day victory over Real Sociedad.
Barcelona hosts Bayern Munich in their Champions League group match on Tuesday at the Nou Camp.
