Ander Herrera’s double guided Paris St-Germain to a resounding victory over Clermont at home, making it five wins out of five in Ligue 1 this season.
PSG were without Lionel Messi and Neymar after their late return from international duty, but they were still far superior than their opponents.
In the first half, Herrera scored twice to put the home team in command.
Idrissa Gueye completed the thrashing with a header after Kylian Mbappe tucked in a third goal.
PSG leads the table with 15 points, and will play Club Bruges in their Champions League opener on Wednesday. Clermont had made a strong start to this season, their first in the French top flight, but their first setback has dropped them to third place with eight points.
The visitors started brightly, but Herrera followed up his headed opener with a decisive strike from close range, and the game was effectively over. Mbappe sealed the victory, while Gueye placed the cherry on top for a star-studded PSG team that includes Italian Euro 2020 goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma making his debut.
