Jurgen Klinsmann Follows Pep In Backing ‘Very Smart Gentleman’ Arsene Wenger’s Plans For A World Cup Every Two Years

Jurgen Klinsmann has backed Arsene Wenger’s call for the World Cup to be held every two years.

The competition is traditionally held every four years, but Wenger, who is presently FIFA’s president of global football development, wants to cut the time in half.

The suggestion has divided sport, but Klinsmann, who is well-known for his World Cup experience, is backing it after Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola approved it as well.

‘When you receive an idea like this, it shocks you at first, and you feel out of your comfort zone,’ the German legend stated.

‘How can they change that? But there is far more behind the idea than that, and when you know Arsene Wenger, he is a very smart gentleman. ‘He isn’t just waking up in the morning and saying: ‘now we are going to do it every second year.’
