Borussia Dortmund came from behind three times to win a thrilling Bundesliga match against Bayer Leverkusen thanks to Erling Braut Haaland’s brace. Haaland, who also had an assist, netted the game-winner from the penalty spot after canceling out Florian Wirtz’s opener with a thunderous header.
Patrik Schick of the Czech Republic and Moussa Diaby of France scored for Leverkusen in a tense match. Dortmund was saved by goals from Haaland, Julian Brandt, and Raphael Guerreiro.
Shortly before halftime, England player Jude Bellingham had a goal ruled out for Dortmund, and Schick took advantage to put Leverkusen in command. But Leverkusen’s lead was short-lived, as Brandt controlled Haaland’s pass with his heel before blasting into the roof of the net only minutes into the second half.
Diaby’s long-range shot made it 3-2 to the hosts six minutes later, but Guerreiro’s brilliant free-kick drew Dortmund level once more.
When Marco Reus was struck in the face by the arm of Odilon Kossounou, a penalty was awarded, and Haaland kept his cool to score the winner for Dortmund in the 77th minute.
