Germany crushed Iceland in their qualifying campaign for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, with Chelsea duo Antonio Rudiger and Timo Werner scoring both goals.
In the first half, defender Rudiger swung home a header, and one minute later, forward Werner poked home from Blues teammate Kai Havertz’s assist. Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sane, both of Bayern Munich, both scored.
Germany is in first place in Group A, four points ahead of second-placed Armenia, which drew with Liechtenstein.
Meanwhile, Belgium, the world’s best team, kept their perfect record intact by defeating Belarus 1-0. Dennis Praet, a Leicester City midfielder on a season-long loan to Serie A team Napoli, scored the game-winning goal in the first half.
