The three-time African champions clinched an important victory on the road, extending their grip on Group C.

Nigeria came from behind to overcome Cape Verde 2-1 in their 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifying game, thanks to Victor Osimhen’s goal and an own goal by Kenny Rocha Santos.

The Super Eagles won back-to-back games in Group C thanks to two defensive blunders by the hosts.

In the absence of Wilfred Ndidi and Joe Aribo, Ahmed Musa made his 100th appearance for the Super Eagles, while Innocent Bonke of Malmo and Kingsley Michael of Bolgona were given starting debuts.
