Manchester United is reaping the benefits of Ronaldo’s return even though the player has yet to play for the club this season. The club’s retail partner, Fanatics, announced that sales on a single sports product site outside of North America topped the most for a single day in just four hours following the revelation that the 36-year-old would wear the No 7 shirt.

The first hour alone surpassed United Direct’s best-ever full day of global sales, and when the club’s megastore opened at 10 a.m. at Old Trafford on Friday morning, more than 200 people were in line.
