When Paris Saint-Germain purchased Neymar from Barcelona, they set a new world transfer record, but the Brazilian was really much more expensive for the French club, costing a total of 489,228,117 euros.
PSG paid Barcelona 222 million euros as part of his contract’s release clause, but it was only the tip of the iceberg for the Parisians.
According to El Mundo, Neymar’s contract, which he signed on August 3, 2017, had a gross annual income of 43,334,400 euros over five seasons, in addition to the 222 million euros PSG paid Barcelona. Furthermore, if he stays at PSG for a sixth season, his pay will increase to 50,556,117 euros.
Overall, Neymar’s transfer to PSG cost the French club 489,228,117 euros.
The deal also featured a one-year extension clause, which would extend Neymar’s stay at PSG until June 30, 2023, if the player chose to exercise it.
