Chelsea’s Ziyech Axed From Morocco’s Squad For Turning Up Late And Refusing To Play Against Ghana In June

Hakim Ziyech of Chelsea has been omitted from Morocco’s newest team after allegedly holding the group ‘hostage’ by refusing to play in a friendly, according to coach Vahid Halilhodzic.

Given that Ziyech, 28, is Morocco’s most experienced footballer at the moment, having just won the Champions League with Chelsea, his absence for this last international break was shocking.

Following his snub, the winger sarcastically posted a laughing emoji on Instagram, and now Halilhodzic has revealed a spat with his star player.

‘His behaviour in the last two matches, especially the last one, was not that of a national team player who as a leader in the team has to be positive role model,’ Halilhodzic said, as per The New Arab.

‘He arrived late and after that he even refused to work. There was no point in discussing it afterwards, as a coach the answer is right there to see.
