Wolves are close to completing a loan move for Renato Sanches from Lille. After undergoing meniscus surgery on his right knee, the 24-year-old midfielder will be out for five weeks, but Wolves are trying to reach a deal with an option to make the move permanent.

Sanches, who won the French league title with Lille last season, has resurrected his career after a period of inactivity. He won Euro 2016 with Portugal before joining Bayern Munich from Benfica the following summer.

Sanches struggled for playing time at Bayern and was loaned to Swansea in the summer of 2017, however he only played 12 games for the club before they were relegated.

Earlier in the transfer window, the midfielder was linked with moves to Liverpool and Arsenal, but neither deal materialized.
