Real Betis 0-1 Real Madrid: Dani Carvajal’s Second-Half Volley Seals Second Win Of The Season For Carlo Ancelotti’s Men

Real Madrid won their second game of the season with a 1-0 victory over Real Betis thanks to Dani Carvajal’s second-half goal. Shortly after having a goal disallowed, Karim Benzema set up Carvajal’s 61st-minute winner with a cross that was brilliantly volleyed home.

Eden Hazard came close to adding a late second, but Rui Silva of Betis produced a fantastic stop. In the 61st minute, Carvajal volleyed in a pass from Benzema in a counterattack spearheaded by Vinicius Junior, who was once again important for Carlo Ancelotti’s team.

After coming off the bench to score goals in a 4-1 win against Alaves and a 3-3 draw with Levante, Vinicius was the focal point of Madrid’s attack in his first start of the season.

In this summer’s shuffle of soccer’s top stars, Eden Hazard lost his starting spot amid rumours that he could be on his way to Juventus to fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Manchester United. Hazard entered the game in the 77th minute to replace Vinicius.

With injured midfielders Luka Modric and Toni Kroos unable to control the ball, Madrid relied on Vinicius’ quickness to attack.
