Barcelona overcame Getafe in La Liga, and Memphis Depay scored the game-winning goal. After only 99 seconds, Sergi Roberto slid home Jordi Alba’s cross to give the hosts the lead. After a one-two with Carles Alena, both former Barcelona players, Sandro equalized for Getafe.
In front of approximately 26,000 supporters, Depay showed terrific skill from Frenkie de Jong’s pass before blasting into the bottom corner for the winner after half an hour. It was the first time a Dutch player had scored and assisted in La Liga since 2009.
Barcelona has seven points from three games after bringing on 17-year-old Gavi for a second-half debut. Getafe has lost all of their games thus far.
Marc-Andre ter Stegen, the goalkeeper for Barcelona, returned from injury after missing the first two weeks due to knee surgery.
Ronald Koeman’s Barcelona were far from impressive, but had a goal ruled out for offside and Depay volleying over, they may have won by more.
