Following the Liverpool youngster’s outstanding game against Chelsea, Gary Neville praised him as “amazing,” while Jamie Redknapp stated the midfielder performed “with maturity that belies his tender years.”
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp raised eyebrows on Saturday afternoon when he named the 18-year-old in his starting lineup for the Reds’ crucial match against Chelsea at Anfield, with both clubs setting their stalls in the title battle.
Elliott, however, shone in a midfield three with Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, with the Englishman outplaying Chelsea’s Jorginho and N’Golo Kante.
After the two giants drew 1-1, Manchester United legend Neville was quick to praise Elliott’s impact to Klopp’s side, praising the youngster’s ‘urgency’ in midfield.
On Sky Sports, Neville remarked of Elliott, “He was outstanding.” ‘He appeared confident, and his first few touches were fantastic, giving Liverpool a sense of urgency in midfield.’
