Kurt Zouma of France has joined West Ham from Chelsea on a four-year deal worth £29.8 million. During his seven years at Stamford Bridge, Zouma, 26, won two Premier League crowns, a Champions League, and a League Cup.
During his time at Chelsea, he had loan spells at Saint-Etienne, Stoke City, and Everton, and has eight caps for France.
“I’m very happy and very proud,” said Zouma.
“My conversation with the manager went very fast. I just felt like he really wanted me to come and join the team, especially a good team that’s started the season very, very well.
“With the great season that West Ham had last year, that gave the team a lot of confidence to improve this year – and I want to help the team do that.”
Zouma joined Chelsea from Saint-Etienne as a 19-year-old in January 2014, making 151 appearances in all competitions and scoring 10 goals.
Last season, the Frenchman made 36 appearances for Chelsea, but he was not a priority for manager Thomas Tuchel, who has been eyeing Sevilla’s 22-year-old France defender Jules Kounde. After Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace, West Ham sit top of the Premier League table with seven points from three games.
