Arsenal Without A Point Or Goal After 10 Men Thrashed By Man City

Arsenal’s ten-man squad was severely outplayed by Manchester City, and the Gunners were relegated to the Premier League’s relegation zone. This is the first time the Gunners have lost their first three league games since 1954, and the game was virtually over by half-time.

Arsenal’s hopes of an unexpected comeback were dashed when midfielder Granit Xhaka was sent off for lunging into a challenge on Joao Cancelo in the first 12 minutes. Immediately before the interval, Grealish’s typical teasing run set up Gabriel Jesus for an easy third, and just after the break, Rodri steered home a fourth from 20 yards.

Pep Guardiola had deployed all three changes within 16 minutes of the second half starting, demonstrating his side’s complete dominance. The hosts finished off the rout with Torres’ second six minutes from time, turning it into a prolonged keep-ball session. In the other technical area, Guardiola’s adversary and former assistant Mikel Arteta appeared shell-shocked as Raheem Sterling – twice -, Aymeric Laporte, and Riyad Mahrez squandered chances to extend the lead even further.

Arsenal had only one shot, which was off target, and only 19 percent possession towards the finish. They have yet to score in the Premier League this season, and they play Norwich, the team they replaced at the bottom of the standings, right after the international break.
