31-Year-Old Russian Influencer Dies During Nose Job Operation At Top Clinic
UNDER THE KNIFE
An influencer has died while undergoing a £4,000 nose job operation at an elite clinic after a possible deadly “reaction to anaesthetic”.
As surgery was underway at a Russian clinic her temperature soared possibly as a result of a reaction against the anaesthetic. Image guru Marina Lebedeva, 31, wanted the rhinoplasty procedure to “correct” the shape of her nose, say reports. She died as the plastic surgeons and paramedics fought to save her at Artibeaut clinic in St Petersburg.
The private clinic had called an ambulance as soon as they realised she was in trouble. A video recorded the surgery and released by RenTV will be used as evidence. A criminal case into medical negligence has been opened in St Petersburg, with surgeons facing up to six years in jail if convicted. The image consultant’s husband rushed back to the city from a business trip when he was told about her tragic death.
“The doctors are shocked, and say this happens once in a million surgeries,” said one report. The clinic’s director Alexander Efremov said the patient had passed multiple tests before the nose job, which was carried out by highly-qualified medics. He believes a genetic condition led to her death, say reports.
“A forensic medical examination will be carried out, but I can say that we performed the surgery according to all normal standards,” he said. “If some violation occurred, it would be the first such case.” The Russian Investigative Committee said it was seeking “to establish the circumstances and cause of the woman’s death. “The investigation of the criminal case continues.”
