Harry Kane Turned Down A Bumper New Tottenham Contract Earlier This Month And Does Not Want To Sign A Fresh Deal

When Harry Kane returned for pre-season earlier this month, he reportedly turned down a new Tottenham deal that would have seen him receive a hefty wage increase. Kane wanted to leave north London for Manchester City this summer, but Spurs turned down two massive offers, and the striker revealed his decision on Wednesday.

Kane was rumored to be in talks for a new deal, but he wanted the club to pay him £400,000 a week to make him the Premier League’s highest paid. However, according to The Athletic, Kane turned down a lucrative new contract after meeting with Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici when he returned from his summer break on August 7, and his team has shown little interest in signing an extension.

The new contract would have given the England captain a hefty pay increase, but it was said to be time-limited and no longer available. Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City is the highest-paid player in the Premier League, earning £385,000 a week, while David de Gea of Manchester United is second, earning £375,000 per week.
