According to sources, Tottenham has initiated informal conversations with Houssem Aouar’s representatives about a possible summer transfer for the Lyon midfielder.
Arsenal had been a long-time admirer of the French midfielder and had made multiple approaches for him last summer, but the Gunners decided to buy Thomas Partey for £45 million instead.
Spurs have spoken to Aouar’s team, according to Sky Sports News, but the midfielder would prefer to join a team in the Champions League. Spurs are now participating in the UEFA Europa Conference League after finishing seventh last season, and Pacos de Ferreira are a goal down in the second leg of the play-off encounter on Thursday.
In 33 appearances for the Ligue 1 team last season, Aouar scored eight goals and added four assists. However, Lyon sports director Juninho has placed the 23-year-old among numerous Lyon stars on the transfer list. According to reports in France, the Brazilian is so eager to get rid of Aouar that the club is willing to decrease his £25 million asking price.
