Bale Score First La Liga Goal Since 2019 As Real Draw With 10-Man Levante

Real Madrid and Levante battled it out in a six-goal thriller that featured Gareth Bale’s first La Liga goal in 2019 and a goalkeeper who was an outfield player.
Bale scored after a feed from Karim Benzema, but Roger Marti equalized 28 seconds later.
It appeared as though Bale’s superb first-time finish would be the feature of the game when he scored Real’s first.

It was the Wales legend’s first La Liga goal since September 2019 and his first for Real in any competition since January 2020, thanks to Carlo Ancelotti. With Real 1-0 up and looking in command at halftime, it appeared as if the only question would be how much they would win by.

Marti netted off Gonzalo Melero’s through ball less than 30 seconds after the restart, bringing Valencia back into the game. Campana’s spectacular volley into the top corner from Jorge de Frutos’ cross gave them the lead. Real took Bale off as part of a triple substitution that also included Vinicius – and the Brazilian came to Real’s rescue.

The red card for Fernandez occurred one minute after Levante had made their final substitute, but Real could not take advantage of Vezo’s cameo with the gloves in the six minutes of injury time.
