Roma got off to a winning start in the league under Jose Mourinho with a 2-0 win against Fiorentina in a game that saw two red cards.
Bartlomiej Dragowski, the visiting goalkeeper, was sent off for a foul on England striker Wayne Rooney, who subsequently set up Henrikh Mkhitaryan for the opener. Nicolo Zaniolo was subsequently sent off, and Nikola Milenkovic quickly equalized.
Jordan Veretout finished off Abraham’s low cross with a nice third to put the game out of reach.
Abraham, a former Chelsea player, had a chance to score but hit the crossbar with a close-range header with the score still 1-1. It was Mourinho’s flawless start, and it was a welcome return for Roma fans, who had not seen a game at the Stadio Olympico since February 2020.
