Liverpool Need A Marquee Signing To ‘Lift’ The Dressing Room This Season-Peter Crouch And Joe Cole

Liverpool need a significant addition this transfer window, according to Peter Crouch and Joe Cole, if they are to improve their Premier League title chances. Jurgen Klopp’s side has had a relatively quiet transfer window so far, with Ibrahima Konate joining for £36 million from RB Leipzig as the lone new face in the squad.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s championship rivals Manchester City, Chelsea, and Manchester United have demonstrated their strength in the summer window by bringing in high-profile recruits like Jack Grealish, Romelu Lukaku, and Jadon Sancho.

While former Liverpool striker Crouch believes Klopp’s side can still challenge for the Premier League title this season, and that Virgil van Dijk’s recovery from a long-term knee injury is like a new signing, he believes the club still requires a new star name.

“When a new signing walks through the door, when Lukaku walks through the door,” Crouch told BT Sport ahead of their match against Burnley. Sancho and Varane enter the room through the front door (it lifts everyone). If they (Liverpool) sign Lukaku, they will be contenders for the Premier League crown.

‘They haven’t signed anyone; they have Konate, but they haven’t gone out and signed anyone else.’ This team still has the talent to compete for the title.
