Boss Ancelotti Dismisses Ronaldo-Real Madrid Reunion

Carlo Ancelotti, the manager of Real Madrid, has denied reports associating Cristiano Ronaldo with a return to the club. The 36-year-old Juventus forward has ten months left on his contract and has been linked with Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Manchester City. Ancelotti, in an unusual gesture, responded to the rumors in a tweet on Tuesday.

“Cristiano is a Real Madrid legend and he has all my love and respect. I have never considered signing him. We look forward. #HalaMadrid,” he wrote.

Ancelotti’s post appears to have been triggered by a story on Monday night by Spanish TV show El Chiringuito, which suggested that a reunion between Real and Ronaldo, three years after he left the club for Juventus in a £99.2 million move, was possible. Ronaldo joined Real from Manchester United in July 2009 and went on to score 450 goals in 438 appearances over the next nine seasons, setting a new club record.

Ronaldo also won four Champions League medals and two La Liga crowns during his spell with Los Blancos. One of those Champions League titles was achieved under the direction of Ancelotti during his previous tenure as manager. In the days since Ronaldo’s great rival Lionel Messi left Barcelona for PSG on a two-year agreement, speculation about his future has grown.
