Over the weekend, the new Premier League season got off to a spectacular start, with no fewer than 34 goals scored over ten top-flight games, as any fears about exhaustion from a busy summer were quickly dispelled.

The return of fans, who had been denied access to live football owing to Covid restrictions, created strange atmospheres around the country, as we were treated to two six-goal barnstormers, while Manchester United scored five goals to kick off their season.

However, it was not all good news for some teams, with Mikel Arteta’s woeful Arsenal being bullied by newcomers Brentford, and Manchester City’s championship defence getting off to a dismal start with a 1-0 loss to a Spurs side without Harry Kane.
