Rennes have turned down a £17 million approach from West Ham for defender Nayef Aguerd, according to Football Insider. After their initial £15 million bid was rejected, the Irons have returned to the bargaining table with a new offer for the centre-back.
Rennes, however, have made it clear that they will not sell Aguerd this month, according to a West Ham source.
David Moyes’ side will not pay more than £17 million for the 25-year-old Moroccan international, and will not pursue other central defenders.
On the 6th of July, this website reported that the Hammers had begun exploratory talks with the Ligue 1 club about a move for Aguerd. Last season, he was a standout performer that caught the attention of their recruitment team.
