Antonio Rudiger Weighing Up Chelsea Future

Antonio Rudiger joined Chelsea from Roma in 2017 and has 149 appearances for the club; he is in the final year of his contract; prior to Chelsea’s UEFA Super Cup match against Villarreal, he indicated that talks over a new contract had begun; PSG and Real Madrid are keeping an eye on his status.

On Tuesday, Rudiger stated that discussions with Chelsea about a new contract had begun, and Blues head coach Thomas Tuchel regards the Germany international as a long-term player in his plans.

“As I stated before, I wanted to concentrate on the Euros, then after I come back, conversations can start,” Rudiger said ahead of the UEFA Super Cup encounter against Villarreal. The centre-back is in the final year of his contract with the club and has assured Tuchel that he is fully committed to the team this season.

Rudiger, who has recently participated in Chelsea’s pre-season friendlies against Tottenham and Arsenal, is 28 years old and believes the next contract he signs will be the most significant of his career. Both Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are keeping tabs on Rudiger’s status, and they are aware that he can sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club in January.
