Football’s Back Already As Man City Will Clash With Leicester On Community Shield At Wembley

Although it seems like only five minutes have passed since the Euros and the Olympics dominated the news, competitive football returns to England this weekend. The FA Community Shield’s customary curtain-raiser takes place on Saturday, with FA Cup holders Leicester City taking on Premier League winners Manchester City.

It will signal the return of capacity audiences at Wembley as the UK returns to some sort of normalcy following the pandemic, as well as the start of the new season (the Premier League begins six days later).

As is customary, the match will serve as the first true barometer of where the two sides stand ahead of the actual tests to come.

Pep Guardiola’s side will be buoyed by the news of Jack Grealish’s £100 million arrival, and despite having just met his new teammates, he is expected to make his debut, most likely from the bench.
