Tom Daley of Great Britain won bronze in the men’s 10m platform diving final at Tokyo 2020 after an exciting final. The 27-year-old was in a three-way fight for gold, but Cao Yuan and Yang Jian of China were in fine form and took the first two slots.
In a nerve-wracking men’s synchronised 10m platform final last week, Daley and Matty Lee ended a long wait for gold.
Throughout the final, he appeared cool and attentive, and he celebrated poolside after winning his fourth Olympic medal – a third bronze – in his fourth Games.
“I am overjoyed that these Olympics have turned out the way they have,” Daley told BBC Sport. “I feel like I’m a new athlete now, and it’s great to be here…” I’d always hoped to, but if someone had told me I’d win a gold and a bronze, I’d have laughed in their face!
