Guardiola Insists: “Man City Would Do Everything Possible To Get Harry Kane If Spurs Are Willing”
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said that he is waiting for encouragement before negotiating with Tottenham for Harry Kane. City boss Pep Guardiola has broken his tradition of keeping quiet about transfer targets by stating that Kane is a target for the Premier League champions.
After breaking the British transfer record by signing Jack Grealish from Aston Villa for £100 million, City want to see if they can capture Kane. Kane is valued at £150 million by Daniel Levy.
‘It’s finished if Tottenham don’t want to discuss,’ Guardiola remarked. ‘All the clubs in the world will want to sign him if they are open.’ Tottenham is the deciding factor. Harry is a fantastic striker. We’re interested in him, but if Tottenham refuses to talk, there’s nothing else we can do.’
City would not have been able to get Grealish to the Etihad Stadium if it hadn’t been for the selling of young players earlier in the summer, according to Guardiola. ‘It’s a lot of money,’ he remarked, ‘but we sold roughly £60 million.’ ‘Otherwise, we wouldn’t be able to afford it.’ You can afford it because we sold young players for £60 million.
