Leon Bailey has joined Aston Villa from Bayer Leverkusen, making him the Premier League club’s third summer signing.
The Villans had been eyeing a £30 million swoop for the Jamaica international, who had been watched by a slew of top-flight clubs, as Sportsmail exclusively reported last month. The German club approved the West Midlands club’s request, and Bailey, who had been on international duty with Jamaica in the United States, passed his physical on Sunday.
Dean Smith, the team’s head coach, is ecstatic about Bailey’s arrival, calling him a “hugely exciting” talent.
He told the club’s official website, ‘Leon is a highly exciting young striker with great pace and imagination.’ ‘He had a good career at Leverkusen, and we are now looking forward to seeing him showcase his skills and qualities in the Premier League for Aston Villa.’
