Katarina Johnson-Thompson of Team GB made a solid start to her Olympic heptathlon campaign with a strong performance in the 100m hurdles. Her heat was won in 13.27 seconds by the 28-year-old, who has only ran faster when she won the world title in Doha in 2019.

Johnson-Thompson is competing in the high jump on Wednesday morning after recovering from an Achilles rupture in December.

Johnson-next Thompson’s event was the high jump, which she competed in just under an hour later, but it didn’t go as planned. Johnson-Thompson, who was seen receiving medical attention during the high jump, finished in 1.86 seconds.

It’s 12cm slower than her personal best, and she was seen between leaps getting treatment for her Achilles. Following the first two events of the women’s heptathlon, Johnson-Thompson is tied for second overall.
