Sky Sports’ makeover of the Soccer Saturday panel has progressed, with analyst Tony Cottee announcing his departure from the popular show after 20 years.
On Monday night, the former West Ham and Everton striker revealed on Twitter that he had been dismissed of his duties on the show, which features former players commentating on Saturday’s untelevised 3pm matches.
Cottee, 56, was known for getting assigned games that finished in goalless draws, and his firing came a year after Charlie Nicholas, Phil Thompson, and Matt Le Tissier were fired from the same show.
‘After 20 years @SkySports, today I was told that I will no longer be on the Soccer Saturday show,’ Cottee stated in a message on social media. I’ve made some wonderful memories and shared many laughs, but it’s time for me to move on and see what the future holds. It was an honor to be a member of such a fantastic team…
