Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s manager, has stated that midfielder Granit Xhaka will not leave the club this summer. The 28-year-old has been linked with a transfer away from Arsenal and was supposedly close to joining Roma, who are currently managed by Jose Mourinho, only a few weeks ago.
During Arsenal’s 2-1 home defeat to Chelsea in a pre-season friendly at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, Xhaka scored the equalizer.
Following a clash with Ruben Loftus-Cheek in the first half against Chelsea, Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey suffered an ankle injury.
‘I just had a conversation with the doctor,’ Arteta told reporters after the match. He’ll undergo a scan the next day. It’s not looking good right now.’
