According to sources, Manchester United will have to offload players in order to continue their fantastic summer, with the club planning a net spend of between £75 million and £100 million.
Last week, Jadon Sancho’s £73 million transfer from Borussia Dortmund was revealed, and United are ready to announce Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane as their newest big-name signing for £42 million. According to the Telegraph, after Varane joins the club, United may have to focus on selling players like Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard in order to pursue their other ambitions.
Varane is expected to cost United roughly £42 million in total, including £8 million in add-ons, implying that they have already spent around £115 million – prompting them to hunt for at least one’significant’ sale. Over the next few weeks, the club is pursuing a new midfielder and Atletico Madrid right back Kieran Trippier, although these pursuits appear to be significantly dependent on whether Pogba and Lingard are permitted to depart.
Pogba is under pressure to leave United, with Paris Saint-Germain showing serious interest in the star player. Mino Raiola is reportedly in talks with the club over personal terms, according to Sportsmail.
