Kepa Arrizabalaga Apologises To Maurizio Sarri For Disobeying Him In Chelsea’s Carabao Cup final Defeat In 2019

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has apologized to Maurizio Sarri for refusing to leave the pitch during the 2019 Carabao Cup final. With the game between Chelsea and Manchester City tied at 0-0 in the final minute of extra time, Sarri suggested that the Spaniard be replaced for the impending penalty shootout by penalty expert Willy Caballero.

Kepa, on the other hand, was adamant about staying on, waving his finger at Sarri and arguing his case, much to the chagrin of the Italian manager, who was about to walk down the tunnel.

Chelsea lost the shootout 4-3 against Pep Guardiola’s team, despite the goalkeeper making one save. ‘Let’s just deal with that here once and for all,’ Kepa wrote for the Player’s Tribune.

‘It was all a massive misunderstanding,’ he added. I felt something in my leg after making a save and phoned for physio to make sure it wasn’t anything serious. Above all, I wanted to make sure that we could all catch our breath as a group.
