Barcelona And Neymar Settle Legal Dispute In Amicable Fashion

Barcelona and former footballer Neymar have reached a “amicable” out-of-court settlement to resolve their legal fight. After his £200 million move to Paris St-Germain in 2017, Brazil striker Neymar claimed Barca refused to pay him £37.2 million in due loyalty payments.

Barca then took legal action against him to recover the £8 million he received when he signed a new contract in 2016. Neymar was sentenced to pay £6.1 million to Barcelona by a Spanish court in June. According to reports, he appealed the ruling and filed a new case, which is now void.

“FC Barcelona announces that the numerous labor and civil litigation cases that were open with the Brazilian player Neymar have been settled out of court in an amicable manner,” the La Liga club announced in a statement.

“As a result, the club and the player have reached a transactional agreement to resolve the legal matters that were outstanding between the two parties.”
