Despite Inter Miami’s poor form, which has seen them lose six games in a row, David Beckham is said to be encouraging Phil Neville to succeed as manager.
Inter Miami, which Beckham co-owns, suffered their sixth straight loss on Thursday when they were beaten 5-0 by New England, dropping them to the basement of the MLS Eastern Conference.
After the humiliating defeat, Neville quickly apologized to Inter Miami fans, but The Sun reports that he will have the support of friend and former Manchester United teammate David Beckham.
Inter Miami’s tenure as manager, which has the worst record of any of the 27 MLS clubs, is threatening to become a disaster, and Neville has since apologized to the fans, arguing that they are entitled to much more. ‘It’s the lowest in terms of my feelings after a defeat that I’ve had since I came to this football club – and we’ve had some disappointments,’ said the former England Women’s manager, who took up the role in the US in January.
